L859 pyrite 18th century Italian gold leafPair of 18th century Italian hand carved gold leaf angels mounted on amethyst and calcite in matrix. The hand carved angels were once part of a heavenly, angelic depiction in a historic church in Tuscany. The angels are placed onto the amethyst and calcite in matrix which is a very rare mineral combination and formation. The calcite formation coordinates with the gesso underlay of the angels. The pair of angels are holding heart shaped baroque pearls.
