The room was part of a reinforced concrete three storey building that opened in 1975 as Yubari Municipal Asahi Elementary School, converted to group lodging by Yubari Kanko Kaihatsu Co., Ltd. in the mid 1990s, and abandoned after the company's bankruptcy in 2007.
