It mounts directly onto the spark plug in the camshaft cover well and delivers the high tension spark to that cylinder, removing the need for a distributor and HT leads. One coil is used per cylinder and each is switched independently by the engine control module. The coil uses a 2 pin low tension connector. A failing coil typically produces a misfire
