Earlier in 2016 Avett mgmt expressed some prevailing themes in their newest record including a science fiction bent that struck me as being very unusual for a band often linked to the Americana music scene

In my 20 years doing this I mostly go by feel and I felt the whole thing needed to feel more face melting or mind altering

This was another pandemic special and ended up taking me about 2 months to draw while the world was locked down. I pushed myself to include many Easter eggs and Dead references that will reward multiple viewings. I thought a lot about the notion of a 'long strange trip' and you'll see many allusions to travel here via walking, flying, floating, sailing, crawling, driving, railroading and more. .
