They both serve in Iraq in 2004, both of them are in a task force that is under the command of the 2nd Marine Division (I don't know if the 2nd MarDiv was in Iraq in 2005, that's just an example.) Following that deployment, the Soldier can now wear the 2nd Marine Division patch on his right sleeve as his "combat patch." The Marine, of course, cannot because Marines don't wear patches/SSI's on their uniforms
