This listing is for a small antique choshi ire dated Meiji 30 (1897). A choshi ire is a small box for storing an omiki ritual sake bottle. Omiki is an offering of sake to the gods in order to communicate with them, or to pray for bountiful harvests. The box is made of lacquered wood and has kanji written on each side. The kanji in the very
